Sabinsa Corporation is hosting an industry meeting to discuss the Citizen
Petition filed by Glaxo Smith Klein (GSK) at Virgo Publishing’s SupplySide West on Thursday, October 23, 2008
from 4:00 ‐5:00 pm in Casanova Rm. 601, Sands Exposition Center, Las Vegas, NV
Speakers will include David Seckman, Executive Director / CEO, Natural Products Association; Michael McGuffin, President,
American Herbal Products Association; Loren Israelsen, Utah Natural Products Alliance; Steven Mister, Executive Director,
Council for Responsible Nutrition; and industry regulatory attorney Marc Ullman, Ullman Shapiro Ullman, who drafted
Sabinsa’s comments. All members of industry are invited, and encouraged, to attend.
.
While the industry’s trade associations have filed comments with the FDA objecting to the GSK Petition, as have many health
food store owners and consumers, few manufacturers have done so. Sabinsa is one of the few companies that have filed
substantive comments with the FDA on this matter.
“It is time for the industry to put a stop to assaults on our credibility.” said company CEO Jeff Lind. “Sabinsa’s making the
investment in submitting comprehensive comments is the responsible thing to do in order to protect our interests and the
consumer’s access to safe and effective products. Other manufacturers have the responsibility to participate, which is why
we are putting the best heads together to provide guidance and perspective submitting comments and discuss the role this
petition plays in a larger attempt to undermine our industry.”
