| July 1997:Prof.Christian Barnard visits Sabinsa, NJ. |

| On July 2, Sabinsa
was privileged by the
visit of Prof. Christian
Barnard, the surgeon
who performed the
first human heart transplant in 1967.
Prof. Barnard concluded that Sabinsa's
products are unique and of the highest
quality and has agreed to endorse five
of Sabinsa's products for the South
African market. |

adds two new patents
to portfolio |

Patent #7,014,874 titled “Compositions
and methods containing
Allium sativum Linn. (garlic) naturally
enriched with organic selenium
compounds for nutritional supplementation”
and Patent #6,998,502
titled “Convenient process of manufacture
for difluoromethylornithine
and related compounds”, were recently
issued by the. United states Patent and Trademark Office.
The first invention discloses a
method to prepare a concentrate for
nutritional supplementation containing
a defined composition of bioavailable
organic selenium compounds
from Allium sativum Linn
(garlic), wherein the garlic bulbs used
have been enriched with selenium using a soilless culture method. The
concentrate is prepared by a solventfree
process. This invention is used
in the branded product GarliSelect®
supplied by Sabinsa Corporation.
The second patent describes a novel
method for making difluoromethylornithine
(DFMO, eflornithine) a molecule
with diverse health applications
including the treatment of sleeping
sickness, certain type of cancers and
hirsutism.
