New Clinical Study with Selenium SeLECT |
|
| |
| |
Arecent clinical study in the United
States on selenium replete subjects
further established the bioavailability
and safety of Selenium SeLECT.
Subjects were grouped to receive
either selenomethionine, high- selenium
yeast or sodium selenite in moderate
to high doses. The effect on
urinary excretion of selenium biomarkers
was measured by after 16
weeks of supplementation. "Effects
of Chemical Form of Selenium on
Plasma Biomarkers in a High-Dose
Human Supplementation Trial" published
in the April 2006 edition of
Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers &
Prevention, a journal distributed by
the American Association for Cancer
Research, found that bioavailability of
selenium was greatest for selenomethionine
(as Selenium SeLECT from
Sabinsa Corporation), less for highselenium
yeast and the least for sodium
selenite.
As summarized by Vladimir
Badmaev, M.D., Ph.D., vice president
of scientific and medical affairs,
Sabinsa Corporation: "This study further
substantiates the fact that selenium
in the form of selenomethionine,
specifically our Selenium SeLECT
compound, is more available to be
absorbed and used by the body.
Additionally, some of the participants
had total daily intakes of more than
800 micrograms of selenium over the
course of the study and showed no
signs of selenium toxicity despite the
fact that 800 micrograms is well
above the recognized safe upper limit
set by the Institute of Medicine." |

Two new botanical extracts for use
in sun care, after-sun care and "antiaging"
formulations, were added to
the product line.
Rosemary T3 Complex™ is an
enriched “Triterpenoid Rosemary
Extract” containing Ursolic acid,
Betulinic acid and Oleanolic acid, in a
standardized proprietary composition.
Laboratory studies showed that this
combination of triterpenoids has a significantly
higher antioxidant property
as compared to the pure actives.
Recommended use levels in creams
and lotions is 0.1-0.5 % w/w.
|
| Gallnut extract is a polyphenol rich
extract derived from the galls of the
Quercus infectoria tree. In vitro
studies show that this natural extract
is an efficacious antioxidant and an
efficient inhibitor of collagenase and
hyaluronidase, enzymes that catalyze
the break down of connective
tissues. The extract would therefore potentially help in maintaining
healthy skin texture and tone.
Recommended use levels in creams
and lotions is 0.05 to 0.3% |
